Development of a regional mutual aid mechanism for forest fire risk management in the Amazon basin

The objective of this technical cooperation is to develop a roadmap for the design and implementation of a multilateral cooperation mechanism for the management of forest fire risk in the Amazon region shared by Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The roadmap will be built based on inputs developed through the following products and activities: a diagnosis of the state of the art of early warning systems for forest fires in the region; ii) Identification of gaps and the potential use of shared resources (personnel, expertise, information systems, and equipment for preparedness and response) among the participating countries and, iii) an action plan with identified investment needs to address the gaps and implement the roadmap.
