The objective of the proposal is to develop a regional industrial policy strategy for solar and wind energy and battery energy storage, in order to contribute to increasing energy security and meeting climate change goals, leveraging on reserves and mineral production of the region. Among the specific objectives are: (i) identification of regional harmonization needs in the value chain of solar and wind energy and batteries; (ii) identification of regional supply capacity for critical minerals – copper, lithium, nickel, iron, etc. – for that value chain; (iii) review and reinforcement of professional skills in the field of solar and wind technology manufacturing; (iv) creation of a solar and wind manufacturing working group in LAC, coordinated with the local production of critical minerals for these renewable energies.
