Ready and Resilient Americas is a regional IDB Group impact program that strengthens Latin America and the Caribbean’s capacity to anticipate risks, prepare for disasters, and respond more quickly and effectively. Through data and knowledge, regional cooperation, and financial solutions, the program connects governments, international organizations, and the private sector to advance a better prepared and more resilient region.
Between 2025 and 2030, the IDB expects to provide US$10 million in non-reimbursable financing to support this regional agenda.

Disaster risks do not recognize borders, and many of the challenges involved in managing them require regional cooperation. Ready and Resilient Americas helps countries share information, strengthen coordination, and develop solutions that can be applied across Latin America and the Caribbean.
Reliable information on multi-hazard risk is essential to guide investments and make better decisions. Data guide investments in resilience. We support the creation of public resources to improve countries’ capacity to model disaster risk and facilitate the exchange of technology and knowledge.
A rapid response requires connecting capacities, information, and resources. Timely coordination among local and international agencies and the private sector to mobilize resources is essential to saving lives and reducing the economic impact on vulnerable populations.
Countries need resources available before and after a disaster. A joint agenda makes it possible to work on innovative financial solutions so the region can invest in resilience, have contingent resources available, and transfer risks.
Resilience is built through partnerships. Ready and Resilient Americas brings together the knowledge, technology, and capabilities of international organizations and strategic partners to strengthen the preparedness and resilience of countries in the region. These are some of the collaborations we are developing with strategic partners.
| UNDRR | We collaborate on capacity building for disaster risk modeling, support ministries of finance in strengthening financing for investment in risk reduction, and develop innovative instruments to mobilize private capital for resilience. |
| UNESCO | We map and classify the training resources available in the region for disaster risk management capacity building and develop initiatives to provide a more comprehensive capacity-building offering. |
| WMO | We collaborate to strengthen weather and climate services and early warning systems in Latin America and the Caribbean. In particular, we jointly promote impact-based forecasting and the adoption of the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP). |
| IMPACCT | We support customs authorities in the region in strengthening the regulatory frameworks, protocols, procedures, and capacities needed to facilitate the cross-border movement of humanitarian assistance during emergencies. |
| We collaborate to promote the adoption of protocols for the digital dissemination of alerts and the use of artificial intelligence for impact forecasting and disaster risk analysis. | |
| UNU-EHS, GEM and iTrend | We develop and make available to countries in the region training resources, data, and open-source software for risk modeling. |
Ready and Resilient Americas brings countries and partners together around a common agenda: reducing disaster risks, strengthening preparedness, and having better tools to respond to and recover from disasters.
