The Inter-American Development Bank, IDB Invest and IDB Lab (jointly, “IDB Group”) have been made aware of a fraudulent investment scheme circulating via WhatsApp in Colombia. The scam falsely claims affiliation with IDB Group and promises returns of up to 1,000% in four months.
Some versions of the scam also falsely name Grupo SURA as a partner. This is not true. Neither IDB Group nor Grupo SURA are involved in this scheme.
IDB Group does not solicit funds via WhatsApp or similar platforms. We urge the public to exercise caution. If you receive such messages, do not engage and report them to local law enforcement or cybercrime authorities.
The IDB Group will not be held responsible or obligated to honor any expectation from false offers. Similarly, the IDB Group will also not be held responsible for any refunds of fees solicited by fraudsters purporting to act on its behalf.
