UR-T1208 : Support for the Preparation of the Second CCLIP Tourism Operation

The general objective of this technical cooperation (TC) is to support the preparation of the second operation of the Conditional Credit Line (CCLIP) for the National Development of Tourism in Uruguay (UR-O1149), whose objective is to contribute to the generation of employment and income in emerging destinations, consolidating tourism as a factor of territorial equilibrium. In this context, the second operation of the CCLIP, the Program for the Development of Emerging Tourist Destinations (UR-L1155), pursues the objective of increasing tourist spending in destinations with potential for consolidation. This TC has three specific objectives to support the preparation of UR-L1155: (i) identify priority tourism investments to promote sustainable tourism development in destinations selected for the program; (ii) support of tourism entrepreneurship in emerging destinations prioritized for the program; and (iii) reinforcement of subnational tourism institutions in emerging destinations selected for the program. The three objectives are based on the principle of investments´environmental sustainability. As a transversal objective, the TC will seek to strengthen the links between tourism and natural resources on which many tourism activities are based, systematically incorporating the opportunities and risks related to ecosystem services in the tourism development and investment strategies of the program.
