Innovations in Index Insurance for small farmers and family farms

The main objective of the project is to contribute to the development of competitive insurance markets in order to attend small farmers risk management . This will reduce consume volatility, increase incentives to raise productive investments and increase productivity for small farmers. To achieve this goal the KCP will: (i) identify main constraints to create sustainable markets for climate index insurances toward pilots programs; (ii) design and implement pilots in index insurance for small farmers in Uruguay; (iii) develop a impact evaluation methodology to quantify those mechanisms.
