Montevideo Urban Transportation Program II

The program¿s general objective is to contribute to the development of a public transportation system that will provide an alternative to individual transportation in the eastern section of the Montevideo Metropolitan Area (MMA), with a view to: (i) improving the living conditions of the population; and (ii) supporting sustainable urban development. Specifically, the program aims to design and implement a public transportation system based on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) for the Avenida Italia corridor. This will include the construction of infrastructure dedicated exclusively to public transportation, as well as development of the organizational framework needed to operate it.
