Amazonas - Rural Renewable Energy
The objective of the proposed non-reimbursable technical cooperation is to improve the quality of life and environment for poor rural communities in the Brazilian Amazon where remote renewable energy systems offer a distinct opportunity for cleaner, more reliable and more cost-effective electrification options than the diesel generators often found in such locations. This TC will provide expertise to assist non-government organizations (NGOs) in the region to develop a means by which they can serve as market intermediaries to meet the energy needs in communities where they are established. This TC is one element of a comprehensive action plan to support the development of a self-sustaining market for rural renewable-energy based services in Brazil.
