Under this operation, support would be provided for the preparation of a program with the following objectives: (i) sustainable management of the environment and renewable natural resources in priority watershed areas, reconciling local aspirations for economic development with the need to protect the quality and quantity of water resources, maintain soil productivity, and reduce vulnerability to natural disasters, such as landslides, sedimentation, and floods; and (ii) to develop local capacity for natural resource management and regulation in the watershed areas.
