The Andes Decentralization Initiative
Short term: Facilitate cross-border exchange of experiences in order to facilitate the dissemination of best practices of local service delivery and administration across the region, and improve perspectives for private sector participation in local service provisions. Short to medium term: Establish a list of lessons learnt that can improve the design of the Bank's substantial involvement in operations directly or indirectly benefiting subnational governments in the countries of the sample. Long term: assist Andean countries in the quest to strengthen democratic institution, good governance and political participation.
