Program to Rescue Amatitlan Lake

The objective of this project is to support the conceptualization phase of Lago Amatitlan Rescue Program through feasibility studies of its components and technical assistance in formulating medium- and long-term sustainable policies. The goal is to reduce environment contamination by promoting measures to develop treatment systems of municipal waste water with appropriate technology and effective policies. Another aspect of this goal is to establish control systems of residual water coming from treatment plants, drainage systems in urban areas and industrial contamination sources of solid and liquid waste, and programs for the appropriate management of natural resources. Finally, this project will encourage private sector involvement in solid and liquid waste treatment, giving priority to the community participation in all these actions.
