Impact Land Titling On Indigenous People

The proposed study would review the impact and/or potential impact of the Bank financed land titling and cadastre projects on indigenous peoples. It would also include a review of the published literature and secondary sources on other land titling programs in Latin America (Mexico, Amazon Basin). It would offer a regional overview of the opportunities and risks associated with these projects, and would develop a check list of issues to be considered in the analysis of future land titling and cadastre operations. It is envisaged that the study would also make recommendations to minimize any risks and ensure that ongoing projects are of long term benefit to indigenous peoples.
