Strengthening Environmental Dispute Settl. Sys.
The general objective of the technical cooperation operation is to propose ways of strengthening the Sistema de Resolución de Conflictos Ambientales ¢Environmental Dispute Settlement System! (SEIA) in the prevention of environmental disputes and to recommend the introduction of specific procedures for settling disputes that may arise. The objective will be accomplished by: identifying the factors contributing to the successes and failures of SEIA, and public environmental management generally, in preventing environmental conflicts; improving the ability of Key Stakeholders to prevent and settle environmental disputes; and prepare manuals and publications to disseminate the lessons learned.
