Buenos Aires-Montevideo Gas Pipeline

The objective of this project is to provide funding for technical assistance to help the National Energy Department prepare the bidding documents and draft a model contract for a concession for the Buenos Aires-Montevideo gas pipeline. This support is designed to ensure that the bidding and concession documents are consistent with the objectives of the Uruguayan authorities to the effect that the gas pipeline be constructed, operated and financed by the private sector, guaranteeing an appropriate level of service and conditions that will allow for expansion of the system. The project will be carried out in two stages: 1) preparation of the bidding documents, 2) drafting of the model concession contract. As part of the technical-cooperation project, the beneficiary will receive support for the developing the gas pipeline project as a commercial undertaking and for identifying the regulatory implications of the gas transportation.
