Disaster Prevention Campaign in Central American Municipalities
The principal objective of this technical cooperation is increasing public awareness and national recognition of the PPP countries on the vulnerability of the region to disasters, so as to assist in the construction of a concept of prevention in the national and regional culture. The specific objectives are concentrated in organizing publicity campaigns in the 8 countries so as to: (a) stimulate national discussion on disaster risks with special emphasis on the threats to competitiveness, integration and regional development, as well as the measures resulting from good practices in the region necessary to reduce the vulnerability, and: (b) articulate the demand for public policies and actions to reduce the risk in the commercial corredors of Mesoamerica.
