Governance Mechanisms for Integrated Water Resources Management

The overall objective of the Program is to assess the performance of the participation of the private sector in the water sector with particular attention to case studies for potable water and sanitation, and irrigation. The specific objectives are: a) to analyze models of private sector participation in potable water and sanitation in selected countries, assessing impacts on coverage, quality of services, environmental implications on waste water treatment, and overall economic and social welfare impacts; and b) to assess selected cases of private sector management schemes for irrigation systems, in terms of economic, financial, social and environmental impacts.
