Support the Government of Suriname in the understanding, analysis and design of electricity subsidy reforms
The objective of this TC is to support the GoS in strengthening the analytical and technical understanding of electricity subsidy systems and advancing the transition toward more efficient and better-targeted subsidy mechanisms. The specific objectives are to: (i) assess alternative subsidy and tariff mechanisms and their fiscal, social, and economic impacts; (ii) strengthen the regulatory and institutional framework required to implement the reform; (iii) identify complementary measures to improve sector performance and financial sustainability; and (iv) strengthen the technical capacity of key sector institutions to support the implementation of the reform.
