The general objective of this CCLIP is to support the Government of Suriname in its efforts to promote a just, clean and sustainable energy transition, by increasing access to electricity, water, and telecommunications services in rural areas and by promoting the decarbonization of the electricity sector. The general objective of the second operation of the CCLIP is to strengthen energy security by reducing dependence on fossil fuels in Suriname's electricity sector. The specific objectives are to: (i) increase power transmission capacity; (ii) provide rural communities with clean and reliable access to electricity; and (iii) strengthen institutional capacity for planning transmission and generation resilient investment projects.
