Support for Agricultural Policy Making in Central America
The long-term objective is to support the Central American countries develop national and regional strategies for a competitive transition of agriculture and the rural economy in light of further trade liberalization. The nearer-term objective is to create the institutional capacity to undertake a systematic analysis of current agriculture sector polices and/or programs in Central America in order to formulate adjustments in light of trade liberalization to support a competitive transition of the rural economy that is economically and environmentally sustainable and protect the rural poor population.
