Caribbean: Skills Development for Global Competitiveness

The specific objectives are: (i) strengthen the technical capacity of the Caribbean to develop training programs on competitiveness, clusters, innovation, and private sector development in Small Island Developing States/Small Vulnerable Economies; (ii) train a cadre of public sector officials in cutting edge approaches to competitiveness and business climate reforms, clustering initiatives and SME development; (iii) facilitate inter-firm dialogue and training to increase firm-level productivity; (iv) build institutional capacity at UWI to strengthen its programs related to competitiveness and private sector development; and (v) strengthen the Association of Caribbean Universities and Research Institutes (UNICA).
