RG-X1049 : PSD Framework and Implementation Structure for the COMPETE CARIBBEAN program

The objective is to develop key information to complete the COMPETE CARIBBEAN program, defining: (i) the comprehensive framework for Private sector development; (ii) identify key projects to be supported immediately upon approval of the COMPETE CARIBBEAN program; (iii) the structure and mechanisms to guarantee an effective promotion and implementation of the program in all CARICOM countries; and (iv) a marketing strategy and communications campaign to launch the initiative. The specific objectives are: 1. To determine specific recommendations of how to reduce the price to consumers by understanding the cost structure of key imported food products including a in-depth assessment value chain analysis (inputs, transportation, logistics, port services, customs procedures, taxes and tariffs) 2. Identify opportunities for strengthening regional food production clusters, bringing together investors and entrepreneurs to consider ways to reverse a trend of decline of investment in agriculture and improve food security in the region.
