Promoting Evidence-Based Policies: The Role of Agricultural Productivity in Central America

The general objective of this technical cooperation is to support evidence-based agricultural policymaking in Central America by generating rigorous empirical evidence to inform policy design and implementation. The specific objectives are: (i) Identify and prioritize agricultural policies and interventions that effectively boost agricultural productivity, leveraging existing agricultural data (e.g., census data, agricultural surveys, and geospatial data) and applying rigorous quantitative methodologies. (ii) Inform the targeting of agricultural policies and interventions through subnational analysis of context-specific determinants of productivity, including territorial heterogeneity, producer typologies, and climate vulnerability. (iii) Strengthen institutional capacity and foster knowledge exchange among national agencies to support the design and implementation of evidence-based agricultural policies in Central America.
