Promoting Supplier Diversification in IDB Procurement through BID for the Americas

The general objective of this TC is to generate and disseminate applied knowledge on how to expand the pool of qualified NBMC bidders in IDB-financed procurement, as a means to achieve better value for money and support more effective project execution in borrowing member countries. The TC is structured around three specific objectives, designed to produce original analytical outputs that can inform NBMC engagement strategy and IDB procurement policy: Specific Objective 1 (Supply) will enable proactive private sector outreach, through early project and tender identification. Specific Objective 2 (Demand) will improve the targeting and effectiveness of BIDFA's engagement activities, through applied market intelligence. Specific Objective 3 (Documentation and Dissemination) will test outreach methodologies and generate institutional knowledge on how to connect NBMC firms with IDB procurement for replication across the Bank and its executing agencies. As a result, the TC expects to strengthen competition and improve the quality of goods and services delivered across Latin America and the Caribbean.
