Regional initiative on AI and Better Regulation

The main objective of this Technical Cooperation initiative is to strengthen regulatory governance in Latin America and the Caribbean by supporting governments in the region in implementing best practices and management tools, particularly the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The Technical Cooperation initiative will leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an enabling tool to improve evidence-based regulatory processes. The specific objectives are: (i) to identify critical gaps in regulatory governance that affect quality, efficiency, and evidence-based decision-making in participating countries; (ii) to design, adapt, and support the implementation of pilot interventions that operationalize improvements in selected regulatory functions, including regulatory simplification, AI-supported regulatory impact analysis, public consultation analytics, and risk-based regulatory oversight; and (iii) to develop tools, knowledge products, and regional dialogue forums to disseminate lessons learned and promote the structured adoption of modern regulatory improvement practices.
