Advancing Sustainable Urban Mobility Policies and Investments in LAC

The objective of this Technical Cooperation (TC) is to provide targeted technical support for the design and early-stage implementation of user-centered sustainable urban mobility initiatives in selected countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), with emphasis on interoperable fare collection, project preparation, institutional strengthening, and knowledge generation. To this end, the TC will: (i) provide technical assistance to selected implementation processes of interoperable fare collection systems in LAC, including measures to control fare evasion; (ii) support the preparation and structuring of selected priority sustainable urban mobility initiatives for potential future financing; (iii) strengthen the institutional and regulatory frameworks of transport authorities and agencies in the region; and (iv) generate and disseminate knowledge to strengthen institutional capacity and inform replication efforts across the region. Given its regional nature, the methodology, standards, and knowledge products developed under the TC seek to address once the challenges that are common to the countries, preventing each from structuring its solutions in isolation and contributing to a more efficient, inclusive, and people-centered urban mobility.
