Sustainable data to assess the effectiveness of IDB operations in the health sector

The objective of this TC is to build sustainable data products to inform, monitor and evaluate IDB operations in the health sector by leveraging, harmonizing and generating a better understanding of existing administrative health data. It has three specific objectives. First, expand prior methodological and analytical work on health systems performance measures using administrative data on hospital discharges and vital registries to develop regional data with harmonized indicators. Second, develop a systematic approach to create a set of high-frequency intermediate indicators along the causal chain to influence health on persons with chronic conditions to better monitor, evaluate and adapt projects related to NCDs in countries with the most extensive sets of administrative records. Third, develop and conduct a medical record review of hospital discharges to provide a more comprehensive understanding of key metrics based on hospital data such as intra-hospital mortality or preventable hospitalizations for conditions sensitive to primary health care.
