Concessional Finance in Latin America and the Caribbean

The IDB has been a key partner to countries in Latin American and the Caribbean (LAC) in accessing concessional funds from different sources, both multilateral and bilateral, allowing them to achieve their international commitments. This Technical Cooperation (TC) will build on previous efforts to support LAC countries in accessing diverse sources of concessional finance from multilateral and bilateral funding mechanisms. The primary objective is to strengthen the capacities of countries to (i) prioritize and develop a strategic pipeline of climate-related projects that align with their national climate plans and international commitments and (ii) prepare high-quality, bankable project/program proposals that meet the investment criteria of major concessional funds. The specific objectives of this TC are: (i) enhance countries' ability to access and mobilize concessional finance to fund sustainable development, including climate-resilient projects/programs, (ii) facilitate the preparation of project/program proposals that attract investments toward net-zero, climate-resilient development, and the conservation of natural resources that provide essential services at both the local and global levels.
