Promoting the development and use of satellite Earth observation technologies for disaster risk reduction
The general objective of this Technical Cooperation (TC) is to promote and facilitate the use of satellite Earth observation technologies for disaster risk reduction in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), by strengthening the technical and institutional capacities of the actors involved in the satellite economy and disaster risk management in the region's countries. The specific objectives are:(i) to disseminate knowledge and strengthen institutional and technical capacities in satellite technologies;(ii) to promote applied research and the generation of new technical knowledge through the design, development, and demonstration of satellite applications aimed at disaster risk reduction in priority territories of beneficiary countries selected for their high vulnerability; and(iii) to strengthen a network for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and support for innovation in the development of satellite applications in LAC.
