Strategic opportunities to increase the competitiveness of sustainable agri-food trade and investment

The overarching goal of this Technical Cooperation (TC) is to enhance the understanding among policymakers and key public-private stakeholders of the strategic importance of increasing the competitiveness and internationalization of Latin America's (LA) agri-food trade. It also aims to attract greater investment to drive the sustainable transformation of its agri-food systems. The ultimate objective is to strengthen the region's role in reducing global and regional food insecurity, combating climate change, and preserving natural capital and regional biodiversity from the perspective of trade and investment. With food systems at the core of the global and regional climate agenda (COP28, IDB 2023), their transformation is vital for the sustainable future development of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), in alignment with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
