Towards a Better Understanding of the Amazon Aquifer Systems for its Protection and Sustainable Management
The expected long-term impact of this TC is to enhance water security and ecosystem resilience in the Amazon Region. In particular, the results of the TC are: (i) Improved technical-scientific knowledge about the Amazon Aquifer Systems (AAS); (ii) Strengthened existing regional governance; and (iii) Agreed elements for its protection and sustainable use. The Project will deliver two main products: a Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA) to get a common understanding of the current state of groundwater resources, and then a Strategic Action Program (SAP), as the regional strategy for the protection and rational use of the shared aquifer systems.
