IDB | Piloting Innovative Urban Solutions in LAC

The objective of this operation is to support LAC local governments to design innovative urban solutions associated with the challenges presented by COVID-19 through targeted knowledge and practical exchange, which will result in the implementation of experimental projects to test identified solutions in five thematic areas: COVID-19; economic reactivation and local employment; mobility and connectivity; housing; and urban sustainability. This objective is aligned with the iterative work of the Cities LAB to achieve a more sustainable, inclusive, and equitable urban development in the region. In order to achieve this objective, the TC will be structured into the following components: (i) exchange of international experiences; (ii) design temporary experiments; (iii) develop policy recommendations; and (iv) dissemination of knowledge. Given the current COVID-19 crisis, activities related to social distancing, citizen participation, the reactivation of the local economy, the use of public spaces, the use of innovative technologies and the analysis of big data, among others, will be prioritized.
