Development of Regional Protocols to Control and Prevent the Spread of Fusarium Tropical Race 4 (TR4) in Musaceae Crops (Banana and Plantain) in Andean Countries
The general objective of this Technical Cooperation (TC) is to contribute to the food security of the Andean countries by reducing agricultural and economic losses in musaceae crops (banana and plantain) caused by the pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense tropical race 4 (Fusarium TR4). The specific objective is to strengthen the National Phytosanitary Protection Organizations through the implementation of coordinated actions at the regional and national level in order to: (i) control the spread of the pathogen in areas that have already been affected (Colombia ); and (ii) prevent the entry of the pathogen into new territories that have not been affected (Peru and Ecuador), but are at high risk.
