The Future of Social Employment: Citizen and Qualified Perception

This Technical Cooperation seeks to generate knowledge about the future of work in social sectors in a context of adoption of new disruptive technologies, in order to help governments and experts meet the demands of these jobs in the future and strengthen regional integration. The additionality of the TC is based on: 1) the development of knowledge associated with the visions and perceptions of the citizens of the region regarding the future of social employment; 2) obtaining knowledge associated with the social jobs of the future that have the potential for growth in the region in an inclusive and innovative manner; and 3) the dissemination of Bank publications on learning, knowledge and good regional and extra-regional practices associated with the adoption of new technologies and human-robot interaction in social services throughout the region. This TC is aligned with the Social Protection and Poverty Sector Framework, since it contributes to generate evidence that promotes the necessary conditions for the creation of new social jobs associated with new technologies. It is linked to the Labor Sector Framework Document, due to the need to have quality jobs that face the challenge of automation, and the Education and Early Childhood Development Sector Framework, due to the importance given to the improvement of human capital and new skills associated with new technologies. It is also associated with the Integration and Trade Sector Framework Document (SFD-GN-2715-2), which promotes simultaneously dealing with software (policies and regulatory frameworks) and hardware (investment in infrastructure) of integration, ensuring coherence between national and regional interventions. Specifically, it is aligned with the objective of cost reduction of the private sector (mainly logistics and information) derived from the technological impact and the increase in productivity from the use of Artificial intelligence (AI).
