Berkeley-IDB Impact Evaluation Collaborative

The long term objectives of the program are to: (i) institutionalize the role of impact evaluation in policy-making throughout the region; (ii) empower Bank staff and local counterparts (including national and local governments) to carry out and apply lessons from impact evaluation; (iii) develop capacity for asking appropriate questions and using impact evaluation not only for accountability, but also to advance knowledge; (iv) develop deeper capacity in the region for generating and presenting evidence; and (v) improve the scope and quality of evidence used to formulate IDB projects and policy recommendations. The specific short term objective of the training program is to improve the number and quality of impact evaluations conducted as part of Bank operations in the prioritized sectors. In this sense, the TC will directly support the rigorous measurement of the Bank¿s contribution to regional development goals established by GCI-9.
