RG-T2203 : Scaling Up Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) in LAC

The UN General Assembly launched the Global Initiative SE4All in September 2011, declaring 2012 as the Global Year of SE4All. The three goals of the initiative are (i) to provide universal access to modern energy, (ii) to double the level of renewable energy use worldwide, and (iii) to double the amount of energy efficiency work worldwide by the year 2030. The objective of this TC is to: - Support and coordinate the work of the Sustainable Energy for All initiative (SE4ALL) in the LAC region; - To facilitate the IDB commitment of $5 Billion in five years to the pillars of SE4ALL made by Luis Alberto Moreno, IDB President, at Rio+20 in June, 2012; - Help manage the resulting impact on IDB activities and operations in the energy sector.
