Technological innovation in the integrated management of cassava frogskin

Cassava growers in Colombia, Costa Rica and Paraguay implement certified seed production systems, identify genetic resistance sources to "cuero de sapo" and use vegetable extracts and resistance inducers as tools to generate higher yields. Researches conduct epidemiological studies of the disease at different altitudes and latitudes, using prediction maps and identify the disease vectors as well as its spatial distribution in the three countries. These achievements have a favorable impact in the environment by reducing the use of toxic chemicals, improving the health of consumers and enhancing competitiveness in international markets.
