Assessment of the Poverty Implications of Rising Global Food Prices

The overall objective is to strengthen the analytical capacity of Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) governments to assess the social costs and benefits of global rising food prices. The specific objectives are to: (i) identify key LAC countries that will be the most affected by the increase in food prices in terms of poverty; and (ii) develop a country specific tool that would guide governments' officials in the identification of appropriate policy interventions targeted towards consumption, income or prices.
