Women in Power: Strengthening Representative Democracy

2.1 This project seeks to advance women's political empowerment and gender equality by increasing women's opportunity to access and participate effectively in decision-making positions. Specific objectives include: • Generating awareness of women's political under-representation and the strategies that have contributed to expanding women's leadership opportunities in the region. • Building critical knowledge and creating analytical tools to assess obstacles and design successful interventions addressing women's paths to political power, their presence in public office and voice in decision-making. • Creating spaces for indigenous women to push forth their agenda, exchange experiences and support Bank efforts to promote indigenous participation in its projects and programs.
