DR-CAFTA's Impact on Drugs' Affordability: the Case of AIDS

The main objective of this Regional Technical Cooperation (RTC) is to analyze the DR-CAFTA with regard to its chapter on intellectual property rights (IPR) in order to identify DR-CAFTA's consequences on access to essential medicine and its differential effects for each participating LAC country (Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua). More particularly, the RTC will study AIDS' drugs affordability as an illustration of the impact of the Agreement both considering each country's relative needs and current position with regards to IPR.
