Campaign: Trafficking in Persons

Program goal and purpose. 3.1 The broad objective of this regional technical cooperation is to heighten awareness of national authorities and othe key social actors (i.e. legislators, judges, police, private sector and civic representatives, journalists and other opinion leaders) on the need to combat trafficking in persons with sustainable policies, initiatives and programs. The specific objectives are to organize communication campaigns in three pilot countries that will: (i) stimulate public discussion on trafficking of persons, with special focus on best practices that may be replicable and sustainable to prevent trafficking, prosecute traffickers and protect victims of trafficking; (ii) help articulate the demand for public policies and actions to prevent and denounce these problems; and (iii) help position the Bank to support national governments in combating people-trafficking.
