Cantera Capital I: Supporting Entrepreneurs Solving Problems in Health, Education and Agriculture

Through the proposed investment in Cantera I, IDB Lab seeks to support one of the first funds in the region that will invest in startups that develop deep-technology based solutions to solve three crucial problems present in Latin America: food scarcity (AgTech/FoodTech), and lack of quality health (Health/MedTech) and education provision (EdTech), with a particular focus on building bridges between LATAM entrepreneurs and the Israeli ecosystem. Cantera is also one of the unique early stage funds in the region led by women (three of their five-member GP team are female, including Sandra Sainz, its founder), with high potential for demonstration effect in the industry.
