Biodiversity and Natural Capital Facility for the America's Partnership for Prosperity
The general objective of the Facility is to support, through the IDB Group (IDB, IDB Invest, and IDB Lab), beneficiary countries in the Americas Partnership in developing and implementing innovative financing mechanisms to mobilize investments in natural capital and biodiversity that advance climate change objectives. The specific objectives are to support the: (i) creation of innovative financial instruments and blended finance structures for nature-based solutions that advance conservation goals and generate climate co-benefits; (ii) identification and preparation of investments that employ nature-based solutions to meet nature-related goals with climate co-benefits, including supporting necessary natural capital valuations and MRV systems; (iii) mobilization of private sector, philanthropic, and other resources to speed and scale up investments that employ nature-based solutions; and (iv) promotion and support of cross-ministerial (e.g., Finance, Planning, and Environment) engagement with the Facility and its activities. This Facility will aim to complement other operations that generate innovative financing solutions for nature-positive investments with climate-co-benefits, including the development of financial products that are also in line with BID Clima, debt for nature conversions, biodiversity assets, and Paris alignment objectives.
