RG-M1171 : Financing emerging microfinance institutions
Project Status: Closed
The project's objective is to increase the supply of financial services to micro enterprises in low-income segments of several countries in Latin America. The project will extend a loan to Vision Fund International (VFI) so that it on lends it to eligible organizations of his network of Microfinance Institutions (MFIs). The beneficiary MFIs work with clients in the low-income strata of the population, including clients in rural areas. They are emerging MFI that in some cases are looking for a license to operate as regulated entities. The project will include technical cooperation to strengthen the eligible MFIs.
