National Rural Electrification Program for Paraguay

The objective of this technical cooperation (TC) Project is to develop a National Rural Electrification Program (NREP) (from now on, "The Program") employing grid extension, renewable energy and natural gas solutions to support the Government of Paraguay in its effort for increasing access to electricity services in rural areas, covering technical, economical, financial, institutional, environmental, legal and regulatory issues relevant to the process of increasing the electricity coverage nationwide in a sustainable way. In this TC, natural gas will be considered only for "on site" electricity generation purposes and for local electricity distribution to users who would not be reached by conventional grid connections through the programs managed by the Administración Nacional de Electricidad (ANDE).
