Support Program for Efficiency and Equity in Panama's Health System

The overall objective of the first operation is to help improve access to and financial protection in health for Panamanians through a more efficient and equitable health system. The specific objectives are: (i) to strengthen stewardship, management capacity, and functional coordination between the Ministry of Health (MINSA) and the Social Security Fund (CSS) to move toward an integrated, people-centered model; (ii) to improve efficiency in pharmaceutical spending by strengthening regulation, management, and procurement; and (iii) to expand access to essential health services at the primary care level in Indigenous areas and dispersed rural zones
