Support Program for Efficiency and Equity in Panama's Health System

The objective of the operation is to help improve the health of the Panamanian population through a more efficient and equitable health system. The specific objectives are: (i) to strengthen stewardship, management capacity, and functional coordination between the Ministry of Health (MINSA) and the Social Security Fund (CSS) to advance toward a people‑centered integrated model; (ii) to improve the efficiency of pharmaceutical spending by strengthening regulation, management, and procurement; and (iii) to expand access to essential health services at the primary level of care in indigenous and dispersed rural areas.
