Participatory and Climate-Informed Decision Support Systems: Enhancing Water Resource Planning and Climate Action in Peru
The TC aims to support Peru's long-term climate resilience and low-carbon development by implementing adaptation and mitigation (A&M) pilots in the water, energy, and transportation sector stipulated in the sectoral TPs and the NDC. Likewise, the project will support the achievement of the NDC's enabling conditions by generating information about climate vulnerability, current and future water conditions of priority basins, providing technical training, and piloting financing mechanisms. The project will directly influence the implementation of national and regional policies to increase the adoption of A&M measures while working within the parameters of the NAP and NDC mandates to direct public and private funding streams toward the sustainable implementation of A&M measures in vulnerable basins. The project aims to showcase a science-based, climate-informed methodology to design, evaluate and implement A&M measures that will enable key stakeholders to replicate this methodology and implement further A&M measures in the future.
