PE-M1087 : Rural Electrification through Renewable Energy in Isolated Communities in Peru
Project Status: Closed
This project supports a fee for service model to increase access to clean energy for the poorest families of rural communities in Cajamarca, in the north of Peru. Households can access Solar Home Systems paying a monthly fee that covers leasing of equipment and all after-sales services including maintenance, for the next 20 years. The project is implemented by Peru Micro Energia, PEME, a social micro enterprise. The project also will support institutional strengthening to PEME to assure the sustainability of the organization. A PES operation will provide complementary financing.
