NI-L1065 : Rent to Own: Innovation to Improve Access to Social Housing in Nicaragua

The Rental Program will benefit low-income informal segments in Nicaragua by allowing them to i) better qualify for a mortgage loan in the formal banking system through the rent-toown methodology; ii) save for a down-payment on home purchase during the proposed two-year rental period; iii) achieve proof of concept to a new social housing financial model, which if successful can be scaled in Nicaragua and replicated elsewhere in Latin America. None of these benefits would be realistically achievable without the implementation of the Project¿s innovative business model.
