NI-G1002 : Drinking Water Project in the City of Bilwi (Puerto Cabezas)

The general objective of the project is to contribute to improving the health conditions of the population of the city of Bilwi by expanding and improving drinking water service. As specific objectives, the project proposes to increase the coverage and improve the quality of drinking water service in the city of Bilwi, provide service to four nearby rural communities, and improve the efficiency and sustainability of service in the area of intervention. These objectives will be pursued through: (i) construction of a new system for collecting, conveying, purifying, and storing water extracted from the Likus River; (ii) expansion of the network for distributing drinking water to the city, and extending it to the communities of Sinsin, Boom Sirpi, Kuakuil, and Yulu Tingni; and (iii) improvement of the operational and management capacity of Empresa Nicaragüense de Acueductos y Alcantarillados [Nicaraguan Water and Sewer Company] (ENACAL) in the city of Bilw
