JA-T1053 : Design and development of National Identification System in Jamaica

Project Status: Closed

The objective of the Technical Cooperation is to support the development and design of a National Identification System in Jamaica that will provide a comprehensive and secure structure to capture and store personal identity (civil and biometric) information of all residents, and provide a national identification card for all. It will become the primary source for identity assurance and will provide a process to improve the governance and management in the delivery of security, social and economic programmes. The national identification card will be a prerequisite for: - Application for and granting of other official identity documents such as passports, drivers licensees. - Entry into commercial relationships such as opening a bank account etc. - Entry into educational institutions, other social benefits, health care etc.
